A Walk to Believe with Eric LeGrand

A Walk to Believe/Brian Hester

This year marked the 4th annual A Walk to Believe event hosted by Eric LeGrand at Rutgers University's High Point Solutions Stadium.

As a former Scarlet Knights player, Eric was injured in October of 2010 during a game against the Army Black Knights. This injury left him paralyzed from the neck down, robbing him of movement, but not of his incredible spirit. Since then he has been a non-stop force in helping raise funds and awareness for spinal cord injuries.

Eric's Team LeGrand charity works in conjunction with the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation and hosts A Walk to Believe every year. It was just announced that this year's walk on June 14th  has not only surpassed the 2014 goal of $52,000 but also surpassed the total amount raised in the previous three years combined.

I had the pleasure of attending this year's walk and was truly moved by the amount of support from the Rutgers community. Team LeGrand kicked off the opening ceremonies at 10a.m. on the field with the help of Special Olympics participants and a great group of current Scarlet Knights.

Following the walk Team LeGrand hosted a graduation barbecue to celebrate Eric's recent graduation from Rutgers University with a BA in Management and Labor Relations in May.

In the end, Team LeGrand's 2014 A Walk to Believe was able to raise over $65,000 to support research for spinal cord injuries.

Congratulations to Eric and everyone else who a hand in making this year's event such a great success! Can't wait to see you all again next year :)
