Crucial Catches

If any of you watched the Bears vs. Cowboys or Cardinals vs. Rams games this past Monday & Thursday then you may have noticed some awesomely pink accents being splattered across your television screen....and No, Elle Woods did not replace Rodger Goodell as commissioner of the NFL...

Every year since 2009 the NFL has been showing its support for breast cancer awareness in October through its campaign called A Crucial Catch. The NFL teamed up with the American Cancer Society and has been able to raise millions of dollars to help fund research and programs to bring early detection to woman who otherwise would be unable to afford it.

Not only are the boys getting involved by prancing around in pink cleats, chinstraps, QB towels, hats, gloves and so much more but the NFL wives are doing their part as well. The wives and NFL offices are gathering together around the league to put together Making Strides events and walks.

On top of the fundraising events offered by the league, official sponsors and all of the NFL teams are offering pink merchandise in their stores with much of the proceeds going towards the ACS program: Community Health Advocates National Grants for Empowerment (CHANGE). The CHANGE program provides outreach through early detection programs and breast cancer screenings to women in underprivileged communities. The NFLShop is also offering game worn items available for auction through their site with 100% of the sale price going to the Crucial Catch funds. Breast Cancer affects anyone with boobs, and since we've all got em I encourage you to make a donation (here) or browse through the NFLShop's Crucial Catch merchandise and pick something cute to wear for next week's game. After all, these rough & tough 250lb men aren't running around in our favorite color for nothing!
